Watamu has some incredible changes in tide and that makes kitesurfing all the more exciting! In general, beginners should always start on low tide for extra safety and fun, and a kiteboarder needs about 12 mph of wind to get up and ride. There are two wind seasons in Watamu, the Kaskazi season from December – April with Winds of 20-25 knots and the Kuzi season from June – September with the strongest winds!
